30 Apr Springtime in Austin for Your Swimming Pool
Springtime in Austin means rain, high winds, and a lot of pollen in the air. Inevitably, some of that pollen will end up in your swimming pool. This can cause problems with your water chemistry and equipment, not to mention making your pool look like a cup of tea. Our pool cleaners do their best to stay on top of extra debris and rain by adjusting the water chemistry. But sometimes, as soon as the wind blows again, your pool looks like they were never there at all.
We know that you don’t want to look at a dirty pool until our next pool cleaner visit, especially since you want to enjoy the beautiful springtime weather. There are a few small steps that you can take to help keep your pool as clean as possible during this dirty pool time of year:
Check Your Pool Equipment
First, make sure that your pool equipment is running a minimum of eight hours a day, we like twelve hours or more a day. It is best if you have it run for a few hours in the morning, and a few hours in the evening to get the water circulating and let the equipment do the job. The more the equipment runs, the cleaner the pool will be.
Empty Skimmer Baskets
The second thing you can do in between our visits is help empty the skimmer baskets. Depending on your pool/pool equipment (the # of skimmers you have), and backyard landscaping, your skimmer basket can fill up daily, or even multiple times a day in the springtime. If the basket is so full that debris is going to get sucked into the pipes when you remove it, make sure that the pump is turned off before removing the basket, and then ensure you get as much as possible out of the skimmer before replacing the basket and turning the pump back on. That way the plumbing pipes and pump pot basket don’t clog up with twigs and leaves. If you have an automatic floor sweeper, emptying the bag will also help us keep your pool looking great.
Just those two things will make a huge difference in the appearance of your pool in between our service, but if you still find your pool needs more care for the springtime pollen and debris, we will be happy to do an extra cleaning at your regular weekly price.
